Dr Kabir Ahmad Sidhu set to drive a smarter financial future

January 28, 2026 (MLN): Dr. Kabir Ahmad Sidhu recently took charge of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) with objectives to involve Pakistan’s youth in the capital market and financial system, stabilize capital markets, and increase investor participation.

He also plans to simplify regulatory compliance, reduce costs, promote the insurance sector, expand financial inclusion, and develop the non-banking finance sector.

Additionally, Dr. Sidhu aims to digitize SECP’s licensing system and introduce a smart compliance system for effective law enforcement, according to the press release. 

Following his resignation from the Competition Commission of Pakistan, Dr. Siddhu was appointed by the federal government to lead SECP.

Under his leadership, the SECP aims to create new job opportunities through the development of the non-banking finance sector, while the digital licensing and smart compliance systems will streamline operations and reduce regulatory costs.

Dr. Kabir Sidhu brings over two decades of legal and regulatory experience. He holds a PhD in law and is an expert in international business law, positioning him to guide Pakistan’s financial markets toward growth and innovation.
