Customs seize smuggled goods, vehicles worth Rs66m

January 16, 2026 (MLN): The Customs Enforcement Division in D.I. Khan has seized smuggled goods and the vehicles used to transport them, with a combined estimated value of Rs66million, following a series of anti-smuggling operations.

The confiscated items, valued at around Rs48.5m, included foreign-origin cigarettes of assorted brands, betel nuts, poppy seeds, coffee, milk cream, auto parts, submersible motors, gents’ clothing, tyres, MSG spice, inverters, and a non-duty-paid Toyota Prius motor car.

The carrier vehicles used in the smuggling operations one Mazda truck, two Bedford trucks, one pickup vehicle, and one Suzuki pickup were valued at approximately Rs17.5m and have also been seized, according to the press release.

Legal proceedings have been initiated, and further investigations are ongoing to track the origin and distribution networks of the smuggled goods.

Smuggling of consumer goods and vehicles continues to pose challenges for government revenue and the local market, with enforcement actions like these aimed at curbing illicit trade and protecting legitimate businesses.
