Customs Enforcement deals blow to smuggling syndicates with major seizures

August 05, 2026 (MLN): The Collectorate of
Customs Enforcement Islamabad has seized 24 high-value smuggled vehicles along
with large quantities of foreign-origin cigarettes, cosmetics, tyres, cloth and
other miscellaneous goods during a series of intelligence-led anti-smuggling
operations conducted through July 2026, with the total value of seizures
exceeding Rs915.5mn.
The operations were carried out under the close
supervision of the senior leadership of Customs Enforcement Islamabad, with
anti-smuggling squads acting on credible intelligence and coordinated
enforcement strategies to intercept and seize the vehicles and contraband, said
a press release issued.

Besides the smuggled vehicles, Customs Enforcement teams
recovered 121,250 sleeves of foreign-brand cigarettes along with 12 offending
vehicles used for their transportation, while large quantities of smuggled
cosmetics, tyres, cloth and other miscellaneous goods were also confiscated
during the operations.
The sustained enforcement drive reflects Pakistan
Customs' resolve to combat smuggling, safeguard legitimate trade and protect
the national economy, dealing a substantial financial setback to organized
smuggling syndicates and disrupting illicit supply chains operating in the
region.
Pakistan Customs held that it remains committed to
maintaining a robust enforcement regime against smuggling and customs fraud,
with Customs Enforcement Islamabad to continue intelligence-based operations in
close coordination with federal and provincial law enforcement agencies to curb
illegal trade, protect domestic industry, ensure fair market competition and
safeguard government revenue.
The operations, it added, reaffirm its commitment to
securing the country's borders, strengthening economic stability and upholding
the rule of law through effective customs enforcement.
