Cotton arrivals jump 25.5% to 1m bales across Pakistan

August 18, 2026 (MLN): Cotton arrivals in factories across Pakistan reached 1,113,513 bales as of August 15, 2026, up 25.48% compared to 887,401 bales in the corresponding period last year, according to data released by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners' Association (PCGA).
Of the total arrivals, 1,019,025 bales have been pressed
into cotton bales, while 950,817 bales have been sold including 937,817 bales
purchased by textile mills and 13,000 bales by exporters/traders.
No bales were
purchased under the TCP category.
Unsold stock stood at 68,208 bales, while 94,488 bales
remained unginned, compared to 47,414 bales in the same period last year.
Punjab recorded arrivals of 379,211 bales, up
marginally by 2.61% from 369,550 bales a year earlier.
Of this, 360,178
bales were pressed and 336,602 bales sold, comprising 334,402 bales to textile
mills and 2,200 bales to exporters/traders.
The province held unsold stock of 23,576 bales and
unginned stock of 19,033 bales.
Sindh posted a sharper increase, with arrivals climbing
41.80% year-on-year to 734,302 bales against 517,851 bales last year.
Pressing stood at 658,847 bales, while 614,215 bales
were sold 603,415 bales to textile mills
and 10,800 bales to exporters/traders.
Unsold stock in the province stood at 44,632 bales, with
75,455 bales unginned.

District-wise, Sanghar in Sindh led all arrivals by a
wide margin with 550,745 bales, up 40.98% year-on-year, followed by Dera Ghazi
Khan in Punjab with 78,821 bales, up 42.59%, and Vehari with 67,899 bales,
though the latter registered a decline of 8.22% against last year.
Hyderabad followed with 44,001 bales, down 13.72%, while
Khanewal recorded 49,149 bales, down 21.39%. Baluchistan, reported separately
under the Sindh total, contributed 43,840 bales, up sharply by 43.27%
year-on-year.
Among mid-sized districts, Layyah posted 35,299 bales,
up 64.49%, Mirpur Khas (Tharparkar) recorded 32,938 bales, up 86.09%, and
Bahawalpur registered 32,352 bales, up 75.48%. Sahiwal recorded 28,489 bales,
down 28.48%, while Nawabshah posted 28,000 bales, up sharply by 207.69%.
Some districts recorded a decline in arrivals. Rajanpur
registered 11,140 bales, down 42.65%, while T.T. Singh posted 23,123 bales,
down 19.64%. Muzaffar Garh recorded no arrivals against 7,002 bales last year,
a decline of 100%.
A total of 268 ginning factories were operational during
the period, including 112 in Punjab and 156 in Sindh.
Total unsold stock across the country stood at 162,696
bales, compared to 80,913 bales in the corresponding period last year,
reflecting the build-up in stock alongside the sharp rise in overall arrivals
this season.
