China achieves 150bn parcel mark 37 days sooner

October 14, 2025 (MLN): China’s express delivery sector has achieved a major milestone, with parcel volume surpassing 150 billion as of Saturday, 37 days earlier than the same period in 2024, according to the State Post Bureau (SPB).

The record highlights the steady expansion of China’s consumer market and underscores the resilience and momentum of its economy.

Since the start of 2025, China has upgraded its express service capabilities, accelerating the standardised construction of municipal sorting centres, county level distribution hubs, and township service stations particularly across central and western regions.

From January to August 2025, regions such as Shaanxi Province, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Qinghai Province reported year-on-year growth exceeding 30% in express parcel volume, according to CCTV News.

China’s extensive postal and express network now includes 1,300 large-scale processing centres, over 400 specialised logistics parks, and 420,000 village level delivery stations, ensuring comprehensive urban rural coverage.

Technological innovation has also played a key role, with thousands of unmanned vehicles and over 300 drones in operation, collectively delivering nearly 3 million parcels.

In parallel, retail sales grew 4.6% year-on-year to 32.39tr yuan ($4.54tr) from January to August, while online retail sales jumped 9.6% to 9.98tr yuan, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

Showing broader logistics sector strength, the China Logistics and Purchasing Federation (CFLP) reported that the logistics market index stood at 51.2 in September, up 0.3 points from the previous month.
