June 22, 2026 (MLN): China has expressed support for diplomatic mediation efforts led by Pakistan, Qatar and other stakeholders aimed at easing regional tensions, while calling for continued engagement between the United States and Iran to achieve positive outcomes through dialogue.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun welcomed reports of ongoing diplomatic initiatives, including efforts to establish communication mechanisms focused on safeguarding navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and reducing tensions across the Middle East.

Guo Jiakun said Beijing supports the mediation efforts undertaken by Pakistan, Qatar and other relevant parties, adding that China hopes Washington and Tehran will preserve the momentum of negotiations and work constructively toward mutually beneficial results.

Reaffirming China's longstanding position, the spokesperson stressed that dialogue and negotiations remain the most effective means of resolving disputes and maintaining regional peace and stability, APP reported.

His remarks came amid growing international attention on the security of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy corridor, and broader efforts to de-escalate conflicts in the region, including the situation in Lebanon.

China reiterated its commitment to promoting diplomatic solutions and peaceful conflict resolution through consultation and engagement among all concerned parties.
