Cement despatches surge 12% in Jan 2026

February 03, 2026 (MLN):  Cement despatches in Pakistan saw a significant rise in January 2026, increases by 12.54% , with total cement despatches reaching 4.538 million tons (mt) in January 2026, up from 4.032mt in January 2025, according to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).

Local cement despatches increased to 3.601mt, a 4.36% rise over 3.45mt in the same month last year. Exports recorded a sharp surge of 61.1%, jumping from 581,691 tons in January 2025 to 937,097 tons in January 2026.

Cement mills in the north dispatched 2.95mt in January 2026, up 4.67% from 2.818mt in the same month last year, while south-based mills sent out 1.59mt, a 30.82% increase from 1.214mt, said a press release issued.

In domestic markets, north-based mills shipped 2.95mt, up 6.93% from 2.759mt, while south-based mills delivered 651,089 tons, slightly down 5.87% from 691,727 tons.

Exports came entirely from the south, which posted a 79.41% increase to 937,097 tons, compared to 522,336 tons the previous year. There were no exports from north-based mills during January 2026.

During the first seven months of the current fiscal year, total cement despatches, including domestic and exports, reached 30.583mt, up 10.58% from 27.656mt during the same period last year.

Domestic shipments rose 12.36% to 25.015mt, while exports grew 3.26% to 5.568mt. North-based mills dispatched 20.895mt domestically, a 13.67% increase, though their exports fell 23.13% to 808,506 tons, bringing their total despatches to 21.704mt, up 11.68%.

South-based mills reported domestic despatches of 4.12mt, up 6.12%, while exports rose 9.66% to 4.759mt, bringing total shipments to 8.879mt, a 7.99% increase.

The data highlights continued growth in domestic cement demand, with exports largely driven by south-based mills, signaling strong overall momentum for the industry in both local and international markets.
