Car sales rise 35.5% in January 2026

February 10, 2026 (MLN): The sales of cars, including LCVs, vans, and jeeps, in Pakistan increased by 35.5% in January 2026, clocking in at 23,055 units compared to 17,010 units recorded in the same month of last year, the latest data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) showed today.

Similarly, on a month-on-month basis, auto sales have increased by 73.6% compared to the 13,280 cars sold in December 2025.

Cumulatively, in 7MFY26, sales clocked in at 111,368 units, around 43.4% higher compared to 77,645 units sold in 7MFY25.

Overall, the automotive industry produced 25,676 units across all vehicle categories in January 2026, while sales reached 26,661 units for the month, marking a notable milestone where sales exceeded production.

Toyota Pakistan emerged as the clear market leader in the 1300cc and above category, producing 4,999 units of its Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla Cross models in January 2026 more than double the 2,351 units manufactured in January 2025.

The company sold 4,078 units during the month, though this figure fell slightly short of production numbers, indicating inventory buildup.

Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan recorded exceptional growth, manufacturing 3,188 units of the Civic and City models in January 2026 compared to just 1,535 units a year earlier a staggering 108% increase.

Sales reached 3,364 units, surpassing production and suggesting strong market demand for Honda's offerings.

Suzuki Pakistan showed varied results across its portfolio. The company produced 2,074 units of the Swift in January 2026, up from 807 units in January 2025.

However, the Cultus segment saw production decline with only 414 units manufactured compared to 530 units the previous year. The popular WagonR model was discontinued, with zero production reported after January 2025.

The jeeps and pickups category produced 4,240 units in January 2026, down slightly from 4,636 units in January 2025, with sales reaching 4,453 units.

The motorcycle and three-wheeler segment continued to be the backbone of Pakistan's auto industry, with total production of 180,417 units and sales of 181,790 units in January 2026.
