Cabinet Division disowns housing society

July 06, 2026 (MLN): A housing society operating in Islamabad under the name "Cabinet Division Employees Cooperative Housing Society" is using the term "Cabinet Division" in a manner that creates a false and misleading impression of ownership, management, sponsorship, or affiliation with the Cabinet Division, Government of Pakistan.
According to a Cabinet Division disclaimer, it holds no
administrative, financial, legal, operational, or any other kind of
relationship or affiliation whatsoever with the said housing society or any
other housing society.
The clarification draws attention to a practice in Pakistan
where private and cooperative housing societies use the names of government
ministries, departments and state institutions, creating an impression of
official backing.
The Cabinet Division's statement serves as a reminder that
use of a government institution's name should not be taken as proof of official
ownership, approval, or patronage.
