Bilal Kayani, Nestlé discuss tax framework ahead of FY2026–27 Budget

May 06, 2026 (MLN): The federal government held consultations with Nestlé Pakistan ahead of the upcoming Federal Budget FY 2026–27, focusing on taxation, regulatory reform, and measures to improve ease of doing business in the consumer goods sector.

Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Bilal Azhar Kayani chaired the meeting at the Ministry of Finance, receiving a delegation from Nestlé Pakistan led by its Chief Executive Officer.

Senior ministry officials, including representatives from the Tax Policy Office, were also in attendance, according to a press release issued.

Discussions centered on the broader taxation framework, pricing transparency, market documentation, and the impact of potential policy reforms on consumer welfare.

The Nestlé delegation outlined key sectoral challenges and offered recommendations on improving tax compliance, streamlining tax administration, and enhancing transparency in pricing mechanisms.

Minister Kayani appreciated the input and reaffirmed the government's commitment to an inclusive and consultative approach to budget-making, assuring the delegation that their proposals would be considered in line with the government's fiscal and economic priorities.

The meeting concluded with both sides stressing the importance of continued government-industry dialogue to support informed policymaking and long-term economic stability.
