Banks to extend hours on Dec 31 for tax payments

December 30, 2025 (MLN): All commercial banks are to remain open for extended hours until 10:00pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, to facilitate the collection of government duties and taxes, according to a press released by SBP's Extrnal Communication Department.

Banks have also been directed to keep their designated branches operational for as long as necessary on December 31 to support the Special Clearing of government transactions carried out through the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT).

In addition, banks have been instructed to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of all digital payment channels, including internet banking, mobile apps, ATMs, and other online platforms, to enable taxpayers to make payments without disruption.

The measure has been introduced to ensure smooth year-end revenue collection and to provide greater convenience to taxpayers.
