Banks’ deposits increase by 17% YoY in April 2026

May 22, 2026 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have moved up by 17.22% YoY to Rs37.88 trillion in April 2026 compared to Rs32.32tr in April 2025.

According to data released by the SBP, Banks' deposits have edged higher by 1% MoM, compared to Rs37.51tr in March 2026.

Total advances increased by 11.65% to Rs14.67tr compared to Rs13.14tr from a year ago. On a monthly basis, advances increased by 0.78% from their value of Rs14.56tr in March 2026.

Advances to Deposit Ratio (ADR) stood at 38.72% showing a decrease of 193 bps on a yearly basis, while showing a decrease of 8 bps on a monthly basis.

Total Investments of Scheduled Banks stood at Rs39.59tr compared to Rs33.2tr from a year ago and Rs39.13tr from a month ago, showing a YoY increase of 19.24% and a MoM increase of 1.19%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved up by 177 bps to 104.52% compared to April 2025 and increased by 19 bps when compared to a month ago.
