Bank deposits stand at Rs34.3tr in Jul

September 11, 2025 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have moved down by -3.4% to Rs34.28 trillion in July compared to Rs35.5tr by the end of last month.

When compared to the same month of last year, banks' deposits have risen by 12.0%, compared to Rs30.6tr held in July 2024, data released by the central bank showed.


Total advances decreased by 1.8% to Rs13.27tr compared to Rs13.52tr a month ago. Meanwhile, advances increased by 11.8% from their value of Rs11.87tr from a year ago.

As a result of weak momentum of deposits and strong inflow of advances, the Advances to Deposits Ratio (ADR) rose to 38.7%, an increase of 63 basis points on a monthly basis.

Meanwhile, when compared to a year ago, ADR showed a decrease of 7bps.

Total investments decreased by 1.0% to Rs36.19tr from last month. While compared to last year, investments rose 18.9%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved up by 255bps to 105.6% compared to last month and increased by 614 bps when compared to a year ago.
