Balochistan Judicial Academy hosts arbitration workshop

September 03, 2025 (MLN): A two-day training on arbitration concluded at the Balochistan Judicial Academy, aiming to strengthen the capacity of legal professionals and ADR stakeholders in modern arbitration practices.

The program was organized by the International Mediation & Arbitration Centre (IMAC) under the Ministry of Law & Justice, in collaboration with the Balochistan Judicial Academy.

Mr. Justice Gul Hassan Tareen of the High Court of Balochistan graced the concluding ceremony as Chief Guest.

Referring to Article 37(d) of the Constitution, he emphasized the State’s obligation to ensure inexpensive and expeditious justice, highlighting that mediation, arbitration and other ADR mechanisms are essential tools to reduce the burden on courts and provide efficient, cost-effective dispute resolution.

Director General of the Balochistan Judicial Academy, Mr. Jan Muhammad Gohar, commended IMAC and the Ministry of Law & Justice for organizing the initiative, noting its significance for young lawyers and the preparation of the next generation of legal practitioners.

The training included sessions led by renowned international arbitrators Mian Sheeraz Javed and Syed Hammad Yousaf Gillani, covering ADR fundamentals, arbitration frameworks, procedural aspects and practical insights.

Participants appreciated the exposure to international standards and expressed confidence in applying the skills learned to advance ADR in Balochistan and beyond.

At the conclusion, IMAC Registrar Mr. Ehsan Ullah Khan extended thanks to Justice Gul Hassan Tareen, trainers, guests and participants for their active engagement, reaffirming IMAC’s commitment to institutionalizing ADR mechanisms across Pakistan through ongoing capacity-building programs.
