BYD marks fastest NEV ramp-up in Pakistan's auto history

September 25, 2026 (MLN): BYD has crossed the milestone of 10,000 vehicles on Pakistani roads, marking the fastest ramp-up by a new-entrant New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand in the country's automotive history, Mega Motor Company (MMC), the official partner of BYD in Pakistan, said.

The achievement reflects strong consumer demand and growing confidence in new energy mobility, coming ahead of the commencement of local assembly by the BYD-MMC partnership, according to a press release issued.

BYD entered the Pakistani market with the Atto 3 and Seal, and has since expanded its lineup to five models, including the Atto 2, positioned as Pakistan's top-selling EV, the Sealion 7, and the Shark 6, the country's first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) pickup.

Aly Khan, CEO of Mega Motor Company, said the milestone reflected the progress made in building the foundations for new energy mobility in Pakistan, noting that the company's focus from the outset had been on establishing the capabilities, infrastructure and market presence needed to support the transition at scale.

 He added that MMC was preparing to launch Pakistan's first and largest NEV assembly facility as the next step in its journey.

Liu Xueliang, Vice President of BYD Co. Ltd. and General Manager of BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division, said Pakistan had quickly become an important market in BYD's global journey, and that the trust shown by consumers in the brand was particularly significant.

He said BYD was working closely with MMC to ensure the right mix of products was available to Pakistani consumers at the right time, and that the company would continue expanding its presence in the market as consumer needs evolved.

The upcoming BYD-MMC facility is set to become the country's largest state-of-the-art plant dedicated exclusively to NEV production, marking a shift for Pakistan from the adoption of imported NEVs toward local manufacturing.
