Amazon’s Project Kuiper to bring 400 Mbps satellite broadband to Pakistan

October 9, 2025 (MLN): Amazon’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite initiative, Project Kuiper, will launch high-speed satellite broadband services in Pakistan by the end of 2026.

The shared information follows a strategic meeting between Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja and a delegation from Amazon’s Project Kuiper team.

Project Kuiper, a multi-billion-dollar global initiative by Amazon, aims to expand high-speed internet access to underserved and remote regions around the world.

In Pakistan, the project plans to establish ground infrastructure, including gateways and points of presence (PoPs), to ensure reliable connectivity and seamless integration with the national digital ecosystem.

Welcoming Amazon’s move, Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja stated:

“Project Kuiper’s entry into Pakistan is a step forward in advancing digital inclusion and strengthening our connectivity ecosystem. These investments align with the Government’s vision of building a Digital Nation Pakistan where every citizen, regardless of geography, has access to fast, affordable, and secure internet services.”

With a planned constellation of up to 3,236 satellites, Project Kuiper will deliver broadband speeds of up to 400 Mbps through affordable user terminals.

The collaboration is expected to boost Pakistan’s IT sector, enhance innovation, and bridge the digital divide. The MoITT reaffirmed its commitment to fostering global partnerships that contribute to the Prime Minister’s vision for a modern, connected, and inclusive Digital Pakistan.
