Altern Energy loses NEPRA license, board eyes plant disposal

September 2, 2026 (MLN): NEPRA has cancelled the Generation License (No. IGPL/021/2024) of Altern Energy Limited (PSX: ALTN) with effect from August 28, 2026, in response to the company's application dated June 10, 2026.

Following the termination of its agreements, the company can no longer generate and sell electricity to Central Power Generation Agency (Guarantee) Limited.

As a result, the power generation equipment has become surplus to requirements, and the Board of Directors has directed the management to explore proposals for the disposal of the company's plant and machinery.

The aforementioned information was disseminated through a notification to Exchange.
