Ahsan Iqbal seeks Chinese collaboration to boost industrial automation

August 12, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and China have agreed to deepen development synergy and advance mutually beneficial cooperation, as the government reiterated that transforming the country's productive sectors into engines of export growth remains a top priority.

The commitment came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal and a Chinese delegation led by Senior Advisor of Economic Affairs Sun Dongsheng in Islamabad, said a press release issued.

The Minister expressed hope that CPEC 2.0 will achieve its objectives of modernizing Pakistan's agriculture and industrial sectors through greater B2B cooperation, adding that it will also help the country overcome its export deficit.

He proposed active collaboration with Chinese counterparts at the National Center of New Manufacturing, with a view to learning from China's experience in innovation, automation, and robotics under Industrial Revolution 4.0 and 5.0.

Both sides expressed readiness to further deepen development synergy and promote mutually beneficial cooperation, agreeing to work together to advance CPEC 2.0 as a key driver of high-quality development and shared prosperity.
