Accountability Court protects Bahria Town from illegal coercive action

June 12, 2025 (MLN): The Accountability Court directed that “no illegal coercive measures shall be adopted against the petitioner (Bahria Town (Pvt) Limited).”

Furthermore, the exemption sought was allowed, subject to all just and legal exceptions. This directive was issued through a court notice.

In the main petition, Farooq H. Naek, Sr. Advocate for the petitioner, contended that the petitioner is a private limited company, Bahria Town (Pvt) Limited, engaged in the business of construction and development of international standard townships and is an independent juristic person.

It was submitted that the petitioner is neither an accused nor a party in the case titled 'The State v. Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi and others,' nor has he been declared a proclaimed offender.

The petitioner argued that the impugned order is against the law and facts, and thus, liable to be set aside.

The court issued notice and directed to submit their report and para-wise comments within a fortnight.
