January 27, 2020 (MLN): WorldCall Telecom Limited, in a letter to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday, has accused PTA of abusing its regulatory powers and attempting to harass the company for collection of undue charges.

‘At the outset, we are compelled to submit that PTA Letter and allegation made therein is glaring example of abuse of regulatory powers and an attempt to harass WorldCall for collection of undue charges. The PTA Letter is contradictory to PTA's own record and true nature of affairs are cleverly concealed therein as information with respect to pending litigation and stays granted by the Courts has not been mentioned in above referred letter’, the letter by the company stated

In a somewhat despising tone, the company stated that ‘the conduct of PTA in writing PTA Letter, without any prior confrontation with its licensee, is utterly illegal and unlawful, and that WorldCall retains its right to seek grievance against such illegal action against it.’

Earlier, the company had slammed PBA for issuing vague information with respect to the public announcement made by ARY Group to acquire 51% shares in WTL, stating that the transmission of one sided information as in aforementioned instance is of detriment to the Company, repercussions of which might not be mitigated completely
