November 17, 2022: The World Bank will provide financial support of 1.3 billion dollars for an emergency, agriculture, and housing relief to the farmers in flood-affected areas of Pakistan.

This was stated by World Bank's Regional Director for Sustainable Development John A Roome while talking to Minister for National Food Security and Research Tariq Bashir Cheema in Islamabad on Wednesday.

John A Roome said the Bank will provide financial support to subsidize urea for farmers in flood-affected areas.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said recent floods and rains have resulted in colossal losses for the farming community and the government is trying its best to compensate them.

Appreciating the support extended by the World Bank for flood relief and rehabilitation of farmers, Tariq Bashir Cheema said relief to farmers’ communities will help in achieving food security.

The meeting was briefed that the Benazir Income Support Program database will help identify farmers for targeted subsidies.
