May 21, 2021 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 0.82% during the week ended May 20, 2021 while the SPI increased by 17.23% compared to the corresponding period from last year.
According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 150.23 compared to 149.01 on May 13, 2021 while the index was recorded at 128.15 a year ago, on May 21, 2020
Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 25 items increased, 7 items decreased whereas 19 items registered no change during the week.
The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 0.62% and 1.03%.
The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 0.66% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.9%.
On an yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 16.44% and 19.97%.
Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 19.97% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 16.5%.
The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.1736 per 50 kg bag which is 0.12% lower than last week’s price and 4.52% higher when compared to last year.
Meanwhile, average Cement price was recorded at Rs.616 per 50 kg bag, which is 0.16% higher than the previous week and 11.39% higher than prices last year.
