Weekly SPI increases by 1.81%

November 12, 2021 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 1.81% during the week ended Nov 11, 2021, while the SPI surged by 17.37% compared to the corresponding week from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 167.5 compared to 164.53 on Nov 04, 2021, while the index was recorded at 142.71 a year ago, on Nov 12, 2020.

Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 30 items increased, 6 items decreased whereas 15 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 1.55% and 1.81%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 1.55% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 1.79%.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 15.55% and 18.62%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 18.62% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 17.67%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.2,050 per 50 kg bag which is 2.8% higher than last week’s price and 21.47% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, the average Cement price was recorded at Rs.739 per 50 kg bag, 0.67% higher than the previous week and 30.45% higher than prices last year.
