Weekly SPI Increases by 0.18 Percent

Oct 08, 2019 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 0.18% during the week ended Oct 03, 2019 while the SPI increased by 15.23% compared to the corresponding period from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 127.03 compared to 126.8 on Sep 26, 2019 while the index was recorded at 110.24 a year ago, on Oct 04, 2018

Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 27 items increased, 5 items decreased whereas 19 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 0.15% and 0.41%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 0.41% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.29%.

On an yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 13.51% and 17.54%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 13.51% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 15.82%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.2024 per 50 kg bag which is 1.05% higher than last week’s price and 22.59% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, average Cement price was recorded at Rs.570 per 50 kg bag, which is 3.07% higher than the previous week and 4.52% lower than prices last year.
