Weekly SPI decreases by 0.64%

According to figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, weekly SPI for the combined group decreased by 0.64% compared to the previous week (Jan 11, 2018), meanwhile registering an increase of 2.27% compared to the corresponding period (Jan 19, 2017) last year.

Of the 53 items monitored, the average weekly price of 11 items registered an increase, 14 decreased while 28 remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs 8,000 also decreased by 0.61 percent as it went down from 213.92 points in the previous week to 212.62 points in the week under review. As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001 to 12,000, Rs 12,001 to 18,000, Rs 18,001 to 35,000 and above Rs 35,000, also decreased by 0.61 percent, 0.64 percent, 0.65 percent and 0.64 percent respectively. During the week under review, average prices of 14 items registered decrease, while 11 items increased with the remaining 28 items’ prices unchanged.

The items, which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included tomatoes, potatoes, eggs, chicken gur, onions, sugar, masoor pulse, gram pulse, LPG Cylinder, mustard oil, wheat flour, cooking oil and vegetable ghee.
