February 22, 2019 (MLN): Pakistan’s Sensitive Price Index (SPI) for the combined group during the week ended February 21, 2019 has inched up by another 0.34% over the week whereas change as compared to same period last year is recorded at 10.44% by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Based on the document, 16 of the 53 monitored items have registered rise in average prices while only 6 items observed decline.
On a year on year basis, the greatest increase in SPI was recorded for the largest income group (Above Rs.35, 000) at a rise of 14.86% over the week ended February 22, 2018.
Meanwhile, the greatest increase over the week was recorded for the group with income within the bracket or Rs.12, 001-18000), a rise of 0.36% over the week ended February 14, 2019.
Apart from this, the average price of Sona Urea per 50kg bag (Rs.1822) recorded a 28.26% rise over the year but tripped by 0.04% over last week. Similarly, the average price of Other Urea per 50kg bag (Rs.1786) slipped by 0.31% over the week and rose by 30.1% over the year.
Cement price (average) during the week inched up by 0.1%, currently standing at Rs.607 per kg, while compared to the corresponding period of last year, the price is 16.52% higher.
