Urea offtake drops by 10.7% during April-September, kharif 2018

October 25, 2018 (MLN): Urea sales have dropped by 10.7% during the six months of Khariff season this year, as the total offtake for the season stands in at 2.9 million tons whereas sales during last year’s period were recorded at 3.2 million tons.

482.4 thousand tons out of these 2.9 million tons of urea, was sold in September alone. Urea sales for this month in specific have increased substantially by 170%, as in September 2017, only 178.6 thousand tons of urea was sold.

Out of these 482.4 thousand tons, maximum sales of urea was made in Punjab (272 thousand tons), while minimum sales were made in Baluchistan (only 16 thousand tons)

While domestic production of urea in the month of September 2018 was only 466.3 thousand tons, the leftover from the previous month of about 130.7 thousand tons meant that a total of 597 thousand tons of urea were available to be used. Since total consumption during the month was 482.4 thousand tons, a total of 114.6 thousand tons will be available to be used at a later date.
