Urea offtake declines significantly by 16 percent in September: NFDC

October 28, 2019 (MLN): The overall Urea offtake during the month of September, 2019 stood at 405 thousand tonnes, demonstrating a decline of 16 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

According to a monthly review report by National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC), the total offtake during the Kharif 2019 was 3023 thousand tonnes, i.e. 4.7 percent more than Kharif 2018.

Urea offtake increased by 10 percent in Punjab and 10 percent in KP while decrease 59 and 16 percent in Sindh and Balochistan, respectively.

Total urea availability during September 2019 was about 880 thousand tonnes, which comprised 330 thousand tonnes of previous month leftover and 550 thousand tonnes domestic production. Urea offtake during September 2019 was 405 thousand tonnes leaving a closing balance of 476 thousand tonnes.
