Trading floors rejoice a bullish session

March 18, 2019 (MLN): Following a brief decline in the last two sessions, the KSE-100 index ended first day of the week on a terrific note by marching zealously towards the green zone. After gaining 545 points, the index closed today’s trading session at 38,851 points, marking a growth of 1.42% from previous session’s closing.

Positive sentiments emanated from the news regarding talks with IMF on a bail-out package, which is in its final stage, allowing the index to remain bullheaded against any negative triggers.

Sector-wise, Commercial Banks were the top performers, triggering the index up by 229 points, followed by Fertilizer contributing 88 points and Cement 60 points.

In particular, gains on the scrips of HBL (+4.25%), MCB (+4.20%) and FFC (+2.67%) led the index in green region.

KEL was the volume leader with 15,345,000 shares, and it’s per share price increased by Rs 0.16 to close at Rs 5.67 per share.

Engulfed within a range of 721 points, the index touched an intraday high of 38,882 points and an intraday low of 38,161 points. Around 75 million shares traded today for the scrips listed on the benchmark index with their total value recorded at Rs. 3.8 billion.

The broader KSE All share also gained around 224 points by the day end and closed in at 28,398 points.

An intraday high of 28,422 points and an intraday low of 27,978 points were recorded by the day end for the all share index with a range of 444 points.

Over 99 million shares of the scrips listed within the broader KSE All Share Index have been traded so far, with its value recorded at Rs.4.46 billion.

Total 283 companies’ transacted shares in the Stock Market today, out of which 183 recorded gains and 83 sustained losses whereas the share price of 17 companies remained unchanged.
