The Central Development Working Party approves 17 projects worth RS. 19.2 billion

Islamabad, December 4, 2017: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved 17 projects of worth RS. 19.2 billion, and forwarded 7 mega projects of worth Rs.51.27 billion to Executive Committee of National Economic Council for further approval.

CDWP meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Sartaj Aziz, senior officials from federal and provincial governments also participated. The projects presented for approval included energy, water, Transport and Communication, Physical Planning, health, Science and Technology, culture, sports and tourism.

Projects related to energy worth Rs.18.6 billion, Rs.5.8 billion of projects related to water resources, Rs24.2 billion related to transport and communication, Rs. 12.2 billion related to science and technology, Rs. 8.3 Billion related to Health, Rs. 3.8 billion related to food and agriculture, Rs. 66.356 million related to physical planning while projects worth 592 million related to culture, sports and tourism were part of the CDWP meeting.

In energy sector, 2 projects worth Rs. 11533 million and Rs. 4339.05 were referred to ECNEC for approval. The projects include 32.5 Hydropower Project at Attabad Hunza and Evacuation of power from 1230 MW RLNG Power Plant near Trimmu, Jhang

CDWP considered 2 projects in Water resources sector out of which one was referred to ECNEC for approval. The project include construction of Papin Dam in Tehsil Rawalpindi of worth Rs.5833.662 million. The project aims at conserving 89600 acre-feet of water for provision of assured irrigation water supply to 20,000 acres of barani land.

In transport and communication sector, 3 projects were approved and 2 were referred to ECNEC for further approval. The total cost of the approved projects is Rs. 3781.478 million. The approved projects includes Up-gradation of Railway Stations at Hassan Abdal, Nankana Sahib and Narowal, Construction of black Top road in District Chagi, and Up gradation of Terminal Facilities and Dry ports.

In physical planning and housing CDWP approved 3 projects, which include Construction of 1st Floor of Academic Block at Civil Services Academy in Lahore worth Rs. 140.5 million, Construction of Auditorium at National Police Academy in Islamabad worth Rs.79.461 million, and Business Complex R.O.D Plant worth Rs. 345.184 million.

In Science and Technology section, 10 projects were presented to CDWP out of which 9 were approved. The total cost of these projects is Rs. 12275.097 million. The projects include Establishment of Sub-Campus of University of Agriculture faisalabad in Depalpur District Okara, Strengthening of University of Sargodha and its Sub Campuses at Mianwali and Bhakkar, Construction of Hostel & Academic Infrastructure at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law Karachi, Strengthening and Up-gradation of Academic Facilities at University of Sindh Jamshoro, Establishment of Federal University at Hyderabad Sindh, Up-gradation of Government College of Technology (GCT) Khairpur into the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development in Khairpur Mirs, Establishment of University of Education, and Competitive Research Programme.

In Food and Agriculture Sector, Gawader lesbela livelihood support project was referred to ECNEC for further approval.

In health section, 2 projects were discussed, one was approved and the other was referred to ECNEC. The approved project is establishment of 300 bedded maternal and child health institute in Nawab shah district Shaheed Benazirabad worth Rs.1990.64 million.

CDWP meeting approved RS. 591.882 million Project of culture, sports and tourism, replacement of synthetic Hockey turfs in seven cities such as Islamabad, Faisalabad, Wah cantt, Peshawar, Quetta, Abbotabad and Lahore
