SPI jumps by 0.37% over the week

April 26, 2019 (MLN): The weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the combined group has jumped by 0.37% over the week ended April 25, 2019, according to weekly data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Meanwhile, the SPI as compared to the corresponding period of last year has increased by 12.9%.

Out of the 53 monitored items, the average price of 20 items increased, 10 items decreased whereas 23 items registered no such change during the week.

The smallest income group with earnings of up to Rs.8,000 recorded the largest growth in SPI over the week, that of 0.4%, whereas the smallest growth was observed by largest income group (above Rs.35,000), that of 0.35%.

The average price of Sona urea currently stands at Rs.1, 822 per 50 kg bag which is 0.04% lesser than last week’s price and 28.36% higher than last year.

Meanwhile, Cement price is currently quoted at Rs.580 per 50 kg bag, which is 1.67% lower than last week and 5.52% higher than last year’s price.
