February 7, 2019: Senior Vice President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), R. Iftikhar Ali Malik on Thursday urged the government to focus on inclusive and productivity oriented growth to generate 10 million jobs and end inherited financial crisis.

Talking to traders delegation led by Malik Suhail Hussain, Chairman Co-ordination Committee FPCCI, he said generating salaried jobs would require dual approach of building an investment environment and skill development, adding that this was only possible through public and private entrepreneurship.

For this purpose, he suggested that the government should take concrete measures on war-footing basis to upgrade human capital base, overhauling the public education system and encouraging female labour force participation.

“The disproportionate spending on infrastructure in the past had compromised the allocation to the social sector which had adversely impacted the lives of millions of people in the country,” he added.

Moreover, he said that special emphasis was being put on youth development in terms of various opportunities for them under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor that offers for public-private partnerships and employment generation.
