September 15, 2022 (MLN): The reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showed a fall of $176mn or 2% on weekly basis to stand at $8.6bn, the latest data released by the SBP showed on Thursday.

On the other hand, during the week ended September 9, 2022,  reserves held by commercial banks stood at $5.7bn, up by $20mn or 0.35% against $5.67bn recorded last week.

This brings the country’s total liquid foreign reserves to $14.3bn, depicting a decline of $156mn or 1.1% WoW mainly due to external debt and other payments.

The country is facing the worst condition and it desperately needs an inflow of dollars to meet its balance of payment and to stop the rupee devaluation against dollar.
