Sale of Urea up by 8% YoY in July’21

August 25, 2021 (MLN): The overall urea offtake during the month of July 2021 was 622 thousand tonnes, depicting an increase of 8 percent as compared to the same period of last year.

As per a monthly report issued by National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC), Urea offtake during Kharif 2021 (April-July) was 2,123 thousand tonnes showing a decrease of 4.5 percent while DAP offtake was 481 thousand tonnes indicating a 24.7 percent decrease over the same time frame of Kharif 2020.

The total urea availability in July 2021 was about 943 thousand tonnes comprising 431 thousand tonnes of opening inventory and 512 thousand tonnes of domestic production. The total offtake of urea was 622 thousand tonnes leaving behind 321 thousand tonnes of opening stock for August 2021.

Province-wise, the offtake of urea during June 2021 increased by 2, 28 and 30 percent in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, respectively over July 2020. Offtake of urea decreased by 25 percent in KP compared with the previous year.
