Sale of Urea dips by 11.8% YoY in February

March 24, 2021 (MLN): Total Urea offtake during the month of February stood at 406 thousand tonnes, which is 11.8 percent lower than the same period of last year.

According to a monthly report published by National Fertilizer Development Centre, the total urea availability during February 2021 was about 535 thousand tonnes which included 99 thousand tonnes of opening inventory and 436 thousand tonnes of domestic production. Total urea offtake was 406 thousand tonnes, leaving behind 128 thousand tonnes of urea as opening balance for next month. 

OUTLOOK FOR KHARIF 2021

Kharif 2021 is expected to begin with 199 thousand tonnes of opening inventory. Total available urea would be about 3,432 thousand tonnes including 3,232 thousand tonnes of domestic production. Offtake is estimated at around 3,033 thousand tonnes. Thus, there will be 399 thousand tonnes of urea stock at the end of the season. It is assumed that LNG based plant of FatimaFert and Agritech will continue production throughout Kharif, 2021.
