Rs900bn proposed for federal PSDP in next fiscal year

June 08, 2021 (MLN): The share of the federal government under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) is expected to be around Rs900 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2021-2022.

This will be Rs250 billion or 38% higher than the initial FY21 target of Rs650 billion.

Out of this, Rs565 billion or 63% has been proposed for the infrastructure sector, Rs30 billion or 3.3% for the health sector.

The government may also earmark Rs50 billion funds or 5.5% of the federal development budget for the education sector while about 27% or Rs244 billion will be allocated for the transport sector.

Meanwhile, the spending targets for four provinces-Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be around Rs1.235 trillion, taking total development outlay to around Rs2.13 trillion compared to last year’s budgeted outlay of Rs1.324 trillion.
