PSX Closing: KSE100 Index Gains 764 Points

August 15, 2022 (MLN): The capital market remained bullish throughout the session on the back of news flows as per which Saudi Arabia is planning to renew a $3 billion deposit in assistance to Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention that this development came during the crucial time when Pakistan is in dire need of foreign exchange, which will pave the way for IMF’s board approval at the end of August 2022.

Meanwhile, investors’ confidence was also bolstered by the continuous appreciation of PKR against the US dollar as it marked a recovery of 11.87% since August 1, 2022.

Resultantly, the benchmark KSE100 index ended the trading session on Monday with a gain of 764.25 points to close at 43,621.82, witnessing an intraday high of 43,651.49.

Of the 98 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 84 closed up 13 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 261.92 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 235 points, Cement with 94 points, Technology & Communication with 67 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 47 points, and Fertilizer with 40 points.

The most points added to the index were by HBL which contributed 82 points followed by ENGRO with 41 points, BAHL with 35 points, TRG with 32 points, and MEBL with 31 points.

The most points taken off the index was by FFC which stripped the index of 10 points followed by INDU with 5 points, PSMC with 2 points, HCAR with 2 points, and ARPL with 2 points.

All Share Volume increased by 167.69mn to 541.55mn shares. The market cap increased by Rs101.51 billion.

Total companies traded were 368 compared to 357 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 272 closed up, 75 closed down while 21 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 52,979 to 195,050.

Value traded increased by 6.22bn to Rs16.84bn
