PSX Closing Bell: Wraiths on Wings

April 23, 2021 (MLN): The KSE-100 index ended the last session of the week with a loss of 222 points to close at the 45,706-index level, concluding today’s lackluster performance down by 0.55% DoD.

The choppy behavior of the market was due to the anticipation of lockdown at the national level that caused investors to adopt a cautious approach at the current level.

Besides, during the session, HMB, FCCL, and KAPCO announced their financial results amid the ongoing earnings season which also affected investors’ sentiments for today.

The Index remained negative throughout the session touching an intraday low of 44,360.51

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 29 closed up 64 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 97.00 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 54 points, Chemical with 40 points, Fertilizer with 38 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 32 points and Textile Composite with 28 points.

The most points taken off the index was by OGDC which stripped the index of 31 points followed by COLG with 31 points, HUBC with 27 points, ENGRO with 16 points and HBL with 12 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 37 points, Insurance with 14 points, Engineering with 7 points, Refinery with 4 points and Miscellaneous with 2 points.

The most points added to the index was by TRG which contributed 49 points followed by HMB with 30 points, AICL with 15 points, NBP with 12 points and PSX with 5 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 88.45 Million to 240.49 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.44.93 Billion.

Total companies traded were 364 compared to 390 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 126 closed up, 223 closed down while 15 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 28,379 to 92,745.

Value Traded decreased by 4.10 Billion to Rs.11.78 Billion
