PSX Closing Bell: Traveling without Moving

May 31, 2021 (MNL): Bulls continue to steer the market today as the benchmark KSE-100 index closed the session at 47,896 level, after gaining 770 points or up by 1.63% compared to the previous trading, mainly attributable to the unchanged interest rate 7% by State Bank of Pakistan for the next two months.

The Index remained positive throughout the session and gained over 850 points during the day as the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the SBP held its policy rate unchanged at 7%.

Moreover, Fitch Ratings projected Pakistan’s GDP to stabilize at 4% for FY22, further lifted investors sentiments for today.

Of the 98 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 87 closed up 11 closed down, while 0 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 409.98 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 183 points, Commercial Banks with 104 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 84 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 72 points and Textile Composite with 54 points.

The most points added to the index was by DGKC which contributed 46 points followed by LUCK with 45 points, PSO with 42 points, HBL with 32 points and OGDC with 31 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Miscellaneous with 2 points and Synthetic & Rayon with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by FFC which stripped the index of 9 points followed by NBP with 5 points, KEL with 5 points, SHFA with 2 points and GLAXO with 2 points.

All Share Volume increased by 452.37 Million to 1412.26 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.136.39 Billion.

Total companies traded were 430 compared to 414 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 351 closed up, 65 closed down while 14 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 77,450 to 260,543.

Value Traded increased by 9.30 Billion to Rs.32.05 Billion
