August 03, 2022 (MLN): The capital market on Wednesday remained bullish throughout the session, witnessing an intraday high of 41,207.54 as the investors cheered the positive news from IMF and PKR's strong appreciation that helped the KSE-100 index to secure 877.26 points to close the session at 41,068.87.

The huge buying activity is attributed to the latest statement from the IMF that Pakistan has met the final prerequisite for the release of $1.1 billion of bailout funds under the seventh and eighth reviews along with a massive PKR recovery of around Rs10 against dollar. 

Meanwhile, the import bill in July 2022 has been reduced to $4.86 billion, down by 38.31% MoM, compared to $7.88bn in the previous month which has also boosted investors' confidence. 

Of the 92 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 83 closed up 7 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 145.83 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 199 points, Cement with 173 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 91 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 48 points and Fertilizer with 39 points.

The most points added to the index was by UBL which contributed 71 points followed by LUCK with 70 points, POL with 41 points, MEBL with 38 points and HBL with 27 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Textile Spinning by 1 point.

The most points taken off the index was by PKGS which stripped the index of 3 points followed by ARPL with 1 point and GADT with 1 point.

All share volume increased by 115.52 million to 333.03 million shares. Market cap increased by Rs129.25 billion.

Total companies traded were 348 compared to 327 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 258 closed up, 68 closed down while 22 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 30,909 to 137,347.

Value traded increased by 3.69 billion to Rs10.02 billion.
