PSX Closing Bell: Surfing with the Alien

May 27, 2021 (MNL): The Benchmark KSE100 index ended the trading session on Thursday with a 21.56 point or 0.05 percent decline to close at 46,790.75.

The index continued to show mix trend today, as it gained over 391 points in early trading hours. However, it lost momentum as profit taking emerged in last hour of the session due to MSCI rebalancing where hefty volumes were witnessed in LUCK, OGDC, TRG, PKGS, INDU and NBP.

The Index traded in a range of 519.18 points or 1.11 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 47,206.15 and a low of 46,686.97.

Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 44 closed up 50 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 512.47 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Fertilizer with 29 points, Tobacco with 21 points, Automobile Assembler with 19 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 14 points and Engineering with 13 points.

The most points taken off the index was by PAKT which stripped the index of 21 points followed by FFC with 18 points, MTL with 16 points, MCB with 14 points and BAFL with 12 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 45 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 23 points, Commercial Banks with 13 points, Cement with 12 points and Paper & Board with 4 points.

The most points added to the index was by TRG which contributed 46 points followed by LUCK with 30 points, HBL with 23 points, DAWH with 17 points and KTML with 8 points.

All Share Volume increased by 656.70 Million to 2220.06 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.30.80 Billion.

Total companies traded were 432 compared to 423 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 173 closed up, 241 closed down while 18 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 43,278 to 284,312.

Value Traded increased by 14.50 Billion to Rs.42.84 Billion
