April 06, 2023 (MLN): Bulls dominated on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) throughout the session as the benchmark KSE-100 index ended the trading session on Thursday at 40,350.89 with a  gain of 633.74 points, marking an intraday high of 40,374.33.

The optimism stemmed from the news flows wherein the International Monetary Fund (IMF) confirmed that Saudi Arabia has provided confirmation of $2 billion in extra deposits to Pakistan, raising expectations of a prompt signing of the deal.

Of the 91 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 75 closed up 13 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 77.33 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 202 points, Fertilizer with 85 points, Cement with 76 points, Technology & Communication with 61 points and Commercial Banks with 50 points.

The most points added to the index was by OGDC which contributed 99 points followed by PPL with 85 points, ENGRO with 62 points, HUBC with 42 points and TRG with 30 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Insurance with 9 points, Modarabas with 2 points and Tobacco with 1 point.

The most points taken off the index was by EFUG which stripped the index of 10 points followed by BAFL with 3 points, ABOT and FHAM with 2 points and COLG with 1 point.

All Share Volume increased by 84.64mn to 171.36mn shares. Market Cap increased by Rs86.71bn.

The total companies traded were 320 compared to 306 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 230 closed up, 70 closed down and 20 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 33,882 to 78,237.

Value Traded increased by 2.7bn to Rs5.13bn.
