August 02, 2022 (MLN): The capital market started the day with a dull sentiment amid political uncertainty as ECP announced the verdict regarding the PTI foreign funding case.

However, recovery was seen at the bourse right after the IMF’s representative for Pakistan said that the country has met all prior actions for the loan review which will take place in late August, a market wrap by Pearl Securities cited.

Accordingly, the benchmark KSE100 index ended the trading session on Tuesday with a 115.65 point or 0.29 percent gain to close at 40,191.61.

The Index traded in a range of 704.81 points or 1.76 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,460.89 and a low of 39,756.08.

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 53 closed up 38 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 79.38 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 74 points, Chemical with 47 points, Cement with 36 points, Refinery with 14 points and Automobile Assembler with 9 points.

The most points added to the index was by EFERT which contributed 34 points followed by COLG with 30 points, ENGRO with 27 points, EPCL with 20 points and LUCK with 9 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 54 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 9 points, Leather & Tanneries with 8 points, Textile Composite with 7 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 4 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HBL which stripped the index of 17 points followed by NESTLE with 17 points, UBL with 11 points, DAWH with 9 points and ILP with 8 points.

All Share Volume increased by 107.08 Million to 217.50 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.13.83 Billion.

Total companies traded were 327 compared to 309 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 191 closed up, 105 closed down while 31 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 36,107 to 106,438.

Value Traded increased by 2.61 Billion to Rs.6.33 Billion
