PSX Closing Bell: Rounders

December 20, 2021 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index on Monday ascended by 439.27 points or a 1 percent gain to close the trading session at 44,339.95.

Investors cheered the interesting move by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) as they conducted 7 and 63 days OMO injection last week which gives a signal of stability to the market, according to market wrap by Topline Securities.

Moreover, the investors’ sentiments improved due to Pakistan’s diplomatic achievement as it successfully hosted the extraordinary session of OIC in Islamabad, Aba Ali Habib Securities cited.

The Index traded in a range of 675.92 points or 1.54 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 44,484.76 and a low of 43,808.84.

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 75 closed up 19 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 118.59 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 101 points, Technology & Communication with 88 points, Fertilizer with 58 points, Commercial Banks with 35 points and Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 30 points.

The most points added to the index was by TRG which contributed 90 points followed by LUCK with 52 points, ENGRO with 33 points, CHCC with 15 points and BAHL with 15 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Refinery with 7 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 3 points, Tobacco with 2 points and Vanaspati & Allied Industries with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by SYS which stripped the index of 13 points followed by BYCO with 9 points, UBL with 8 points, DAWH with 7 points and MTL with 3 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 13.75 Million to 238.45 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.60.97 Billion.

Total companies traded were 343 compared to 327 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 248 closed up, 76 closed down while 19 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 12,682 to 111,367.

Value Traded increased by 1.34 Billion to Rs.9.40 Billion
