PSX Closing Bell: Red Shift

Jun 16, 2021 (MLN): The local bourse witnessed a lackluster trading session today, as the benchmark KSE-100 index oscillated between green and red zone. The choppy behavior of the market was due to the lack of positive triggers and selling pressure which kept building by the end of the session, led the KSE-100 index to shed 151.66 points, i.e. down by 0.31% from yesterday's closing to settle at 48,481 points level.

The Index traded in a range of 453.35 points or 0.93 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 48,880.02 and a low of 48,426.67.

Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 36 closed up 58 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 409.18 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Cement with 55 points, Commercial Banks with 34 points, Chemical with 24 points, Fertilizer with 17 points and Engineering with 16 points.

The most points taken off the index was by ENGRO which stripped the index of 21 points followed by PPL with 18 points, COLG with 15 points, KEL with 14 points and DGKC with 14 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Textile Composite with 26 points, Tobacco with 18 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 13 points, Leather & Tanneries with 9 points and Refinery with 4 points.

The most points added to the index was by HUBC which contributed 27 points followed by PAKT with 18 points, POL with 16 points, KTML with 16 points and SRVI with 9 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 287.90 Million to 936.67 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.31.38 Billion.

Total companies traded were 416 compared to 403 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 171 closed up, 221 closed down while 24 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 36,107 to 195,925.

Value Traded decreased by 5.76 Billion to Rs.22.41 Billion
