July 27, 2021 (MLN): Following falls the previous day, the capital market witnessed a range-bound session on Tuesday, with the KSE-100 index finishing off the trade on a flattish note, settling at 47,686,99. This was 0.03% higher than the last closing.

The benchmark index opened positive, touching the intraday high of 237 points. However, it observed profit-taking during the session amid rising COVID cases.  

Concerns regarding the implementation of lockdowns also kept the market gains in check. Furthermore, investors’ focus is now towards the upcoming monetary policy which is expected to be announced later today, as per the market closing note by Topline Securities.

The Index traded in a range of 278.56 points or 0.58 percent of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 47,910.12 and a low of 47,631.56.

Of the 97 traded companies in the KSE100 Index, 41 closed up 55 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 162.30 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 119 points, Textile Composite with 40 points, Fertilizer with 29 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 16 points and Technology & Communication with 8 points.

The most points added to the index was by HBL which contributed 44 points followed by KTML with 30 points, SYS with 30 points, UBL with 27 points and MCB with 25 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 43 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 35 points, Cement with 32 points, Refinery with 26 points and Chemical with 12 points.

The most points taken off the index was by DAWH which stripped the index of 37 points followed by PSO with 27 points, TRG with 22 points, NRL with 14 points and COLG with 12 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 17.62 Million to 432.63 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.12.25 Billion.

Total companies traded were 432 compared to 394 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 165 closed up, 259 closed down while 8 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 8,959 to 133,967.

Value Traded increased by 0.32 Billion to Rs.13.88 Billion
