July 06, 2022 (MLN): Owing to the lack of fresh triggers, the local bourse witnessed a dull trading session as the benchmark KSE-100 index managed to add only 57.22 points to close the session at 41,159.79.

Market opened on a positive note as the drop in international oil prices helped to improve market sentiments in the initial trading hours wherein the index made an intraday high of 41,334.10. 

However, concerns regarding a hike in policy rate due to soaring inflation in the upcoming MPC meeting and PKR depreciation kept the investors' cautious. 

Of the 88 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 53 closed up 33 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 41.60 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 36 points, Cement with 15 points, Technology & Communication with 14 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 12 points, and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 6 points.

The most points added to the index were by HBL which contributed 19 points followed by HUBC with 9 points, TRG with 9 points, FFC with 7 points, and UBL with 6 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Chemical with 17 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 10 points, Leather & Tanneries with 3 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 3 points, and Engineering with 2 points.

The most points taken off the index was by ENGRO which stripped the index of 11 points followed by POL with 11 points, COLG with 10 points, EPCL with 9 points, and AGP with 5 points.

All Share Volume increased by 21.36 million to 98.25 million shares. Market Cap increased by Rs6.38 billion.

Total companies traded were 308 compared to 321 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 173 closed up, 115 closed down while 20 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 5,026 to 55,249.

Value Traded increased by 0.29 billion to Rs2.69 billion
