PSX Closing Bell: House of Pain

May 06, 2022 (MLN): Domestic equities witnessed selling pressure today as the benchmark KSE100 index lost 409 points today to close at 44,841 level, amid worsening macros, higher commodities prices, and increasing political volatility.

The Index remained negative throughout the session touching an intraday low of 44,784.42

Of the 92 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 18 closed up 72 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 87.69 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 86 points, Cement with 82 points, Technology & Communication with 71 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 49 points and Fertilizer with 27 points.

The most points taken off the index was by SYS which stripped the index of 65 points followed by HBL with 34 points, MEBL with 30 points, OGDC with 25 points and PPL with 22 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Automobile Assembler with 24 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 12 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 6 points, Close – End Mutual Fund with 4 points and Sugar & Allied Industries with 4 points.

The most points added to the index was by MTL which contributed 31 points followed by LOTCHEM with 16 points, FFC with 15 points, DAWH with 13 points and UNITY with 8 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 135.98 Million to 189.48 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.76.44 Billion.

Total companies traded were 333 compared to 340 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 90 closed up, 219 closed down while 24 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 34,296 to 76,746.

Value Traded decreased by 3.63 Billion to Rs.5.66 Billion
