Intraday Report: KSE-100 recovers partially after plunging over 2

March 22, 2023 (MLN): Pakistan equities opened on a positive note but soon bears made a strong come back as the bourse observed significant selling pressure which led the benchmark KSE-100 index to close at 40,376.10 with a loss of 501.88 points. 

Given the political and economic uncertainity in the wake of IMF delay forced investors to remain cautious. 

The Index traded in a range of 645.93 points or 1.58 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,998.39 and a low of 40,352.46.

Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 16 closed up 76 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 67.40 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies and Cement with 73 points each, Technology & Communication with 61 points, Commercial Banks with 54 points and Miscellaneous with 49 points.

The most points taken off the index was by PSEL which stripped the index of 51 points followed by PPL with 38 points, OGDC with 37 points, SYS with 33 points and TRG with 25 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Tobacco with 17 points, Sugar & Allied Industries with 3 points, Automobile Assembler and Real Estate Investment Trust with 1 point each.

The most points added to the index was by PAKT which contributed 17 points followed by POL with 6 points, UBL with 5 points, ABL with 4 points and SML with 3 points.

All Share Volume increased by 5.65 Million to 148.45mn shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs63.17 billion.

Total companies traded were 320 compared to 309 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 64 closed up, 229 closed down while 27 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 1,178 to 80,498.

Value Traded decreased by 0.26bn to Rs3.92bn
