PSX Closing Bell: Blow Up the Outside World

April 04, 2022 (MLN): Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday witnessed a selling spree owing to the political events that took place yesterday in the national assembly where the no-confidence motion against the sitting Prime Minister dismissed by the speaker and the dissolution of assemblies by PM dented the investors’ confidence.

The benchmark KSE-100 index saw a mammoth loss of 1,250.06 points or 2.77 percent decline to close the session at 43,902.04 points.

The political atmosphere remains volatile instigating the investors to remain watchful, a market wrap by Aba Ali Habib cited.

The Index remained negative throughout the session touching an intraday low of 43,821.31

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 6 closed up 86 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 75.84 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 324 points, Cement with 253 points, Technology & Communication with 101 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 93 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 69 points.

The most points taken off the index was by LUCK which stripped the index of 128 points followed by HBL with 82 points, MEBL with 71 points, TRG with 60 points and PSO with 53 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Chemical with 12 points, Miscellaneous with 2 points, Vanaspati & Allied Industries with 1 points and Close – End Mutual Fund with 1 points.

The most points added to the index was by COLG which contributed 18 points followed by HINOON with 3 points, SHFA with 2 points, POML with 1 point and HGFA with 1 point.

All Share Volume decreased by 218.63 Million to 170.49 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.183.78 Billion.

Total companies traded were 305 compared to 364 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 26 closed up, 268 closed down while 11 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 56,903 to 85,878.

Value Traded decreased by 5.61 Billion to Rs.5.50 Billion
